Giving Thanks for 2024’s Political Wins

Every year around Thanksgiving, we look back on the past year and thank God for our many blessings, both organizationally and personally. This year at Family Voice, we have much to be thankful for. Through your continuous prayer and support, we scored several major victories during the legislative session and in the General Election.

This year’s success by the numbers:

  • 5 helpful bills passed
  • 8 harmful bills stopped
  • 2 statewide voter guides published
  • 1 legislative scorecard compiled
  • 13 community events held
  • 27 media engagements
  • 49+ articles written
  • 56 educational videos produced
  • 148,000+ informational emails sent

These statistics give a small insight into our year at Family Voice and what we were able to achieve through your faithful giving and support. We are immensely grateful for our donors and friends who enable us to reach new heights year after year in the legislature and our communities.

We’re also incredibly thankful South Dakota voters rose up to stop Amendment G, which would have legalized a radical abortion measure, and Measure 29, which would have legalized recreational marijuana. We ran a months-long campaign to educate voters about the long-term harms of these amendments, and we’re proud voters chose to protect life and the health of our communities through their votes in the General Election. Voters also rejected Amendment H, which would have re-written our election system to look like California’s.

During the legislative session, Family Voice was able to help:

  • Pass a bill to increase the funding that can be used for scholarships for low-income kids. (SB72)
  • Pass a bill that clarifies there will be no obscene events on college campuses. (HB1178)
  • Defeat a bill that would have added “non-consensual pregnancy” to South Dakota law as a form of injury, which would have defined the existence of a child as an injury or harm. (HB1204)

Your support is integral to our organization’s success, so as we celebrate these wins and thank God for all he enabled us to accomplish this year, we also thank Him for you and the support of our donors and friends. We hope you and your families have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
