Amendment L is an effort to protect our state constitution from being changed too easily. As we’ve seen in recent elections, abortion and marijuana groups would love to alter our constitution to reflect values South Dakota as a whole doesn’t hold. If an amendment is to be added, it shouldn’t be an easy process. Campaign finance reports recently came out, and findings are always telling. Supporters of the “L No” campaign have received nearly $2 million from two radical D.C. special interest groups, yet they’re trying to convince you that voting “yes” is what the out-of-state groups want.
Who Are They?
The Fairness Project hails from Washington D.C. and spends its time and lots of money attempting to permanently legalize abortion through 9 months through state constitutions. On their website, they’re currently boasting their efforts in Virginia in Missouri to make sure widespread abortion is available via a constitutional amendment (like South Dakota’s Amendment G in 2024), and it’s very likely they’ll try to do the same in South Dakota. On their website, they make it clear that big missions of theirs are the expansion of abortion and government welfare programs.
The National Education Association similarly is a leftist organization. Also based in D.C., the organization spends much time and resources advocating for the Critical Race Theory, abortion access, immigration expansion and LGBTQ ideology. Digging into their website shows mass support for the Black Lives Matter movement and promoting the LGBTQ ideologies within schools.
These aren’t the organizations to be listening to when it comes to the South Dakota Constitution.
While they try to hook you using the claim that “out of state billionaires” are trying to influence you, they’re really talking about themselves. These two radical left organizations are the ones attempting to stop us from protecting our constitution by funding “No on L” ads and pushing millions of out-of-state dollars.
Why Are They Against L?
As we’ve established, The Fairness Project wants abortion through 9 months in every state’s constitution. If South Dakota votes in favor of L, the 60% majority for constitutional changes, things get a lot harder for abortion access to narrowly squeeze through.
Amendment G was not a one-time effort. South Dakota remains a prime target for future efforts to legalize full-term abortion. Requiring 60% voter approval raises the bar for abortion advocates to get it passed.
The National Education Association reflects a similar agenda, as their efforts to promote public education, the Critical Race Theory, and radical LGBTQ ideology would face a damper to squeezing things through in South Dakota. On their website, it explicitly reads, “Ending racism, sexism, homophobia, and other systemic injustices in schools is critical to protecting the human and civil rights of all students.” These are not things that are deserving of being enshrined into our state’s founding document.
Will You Stand Up?
The lies of these groups are attempting to deceive many. Share this information with your friends, church members, and family to let them know that Amendment L deserves their “Yes” vote to protect South Dakota’s Constitution!
