At Family Voice, we are filled with hope for the future. The incredible results from the General Election – namely, defeating the radical abortion amendment, rejecting recreational marijuana, and avoiding California-style jungle primaries – have given us room to breathe and room to build on that momentum. Here’s what that means for 2025.

Since the immediate threats of abortion, marijuana, and election integrity have been defeated in our state, we have room to breathe and focus on other issues important to South Dakota residents:

• School Choice

One of the most common questions we have been asked by families in recent years has been: 

“Why doesn’t South Dakota have more private school options?”

“Why are there no charter schools?”

“How can we improve South Dakota’s education proficiency rates?

These questions can be answered in a simple policy: school choice. Funding students, not systems. Crafting the state funding formula to ensure that “1,000 flowers bloom.”

• Age-Verification

With your help, 2025 will be the year that South Dakota takes a major step forward in protecting kids from online pornography.

Although this effort failed in 2024, we are positioned for success in 2025 because of your help. 

After the bill failed in a Senate committee, friends like you spoke up and made it clear that killing the bill was a mistake. This summer a legislative study committee endorsed the bill, and it will be back for a second chance at passage! 

This victory will be possible in 2025 because you stood strong with us after the bill’s failure in 2024.

• Parental Rights & Religious Liberty

The 2025 legislative session will include multiple opportunities to protect parental rights and religious liberty – we are passionate about protecting a parent’s ability to guide the upbringing of their child and live out their faith – both in the home and in the public square. 

This Giving Tuesday, will you financially partner with us to enable Family Voice to fight for your values in the legislature, legal system, and our communities in 2025? We won big in 2024, and now it’s time to press in and create real change under a state and federal government that support our values. 

As we look ahead to 2025, I’m excited about what we can continue to do together. With more momentum, I’m grateful that we are all fighting alongside each other to keep our state free from tyranny.
